Cerec crowns

An exciting new method of making a crown is now available to patients at this dental office! Called Cerec, the crown is made in the dental office while you wait! No second appointment is required!

The tooth is prepared just like for a regular crown. Then everything changes! An optical picture is taken of your tooth and sent to a computer where your crown is designed by the dentist. Once done, the virtual crown is sent to the Cerec milling machine where it is fabricated out of a solid block of porcelain. The crown is  tried in your mouth and any adjustments made. The crown is polished and bonded in place! That's it!

You save the time of having to return for a second visit. Also, there is NO difference in the fee compared to a regular two-visit crown!

The only possible complication that might arise, is if there is a problem getting the optical image. Some patients with a strong gag reflex, strong tongue muscle, or if the area around the crown cannot be kept clean,  may need to take an impression to make the crown and  return for a second visit. However, this should be a rare circumstance and most patients should have no problem doing a crown in one visit!
